Voluntary Artists Studio, Thimphu, popularly known as VAST is the citadel for the art lovers. It was first founded by a group of young inquisitive local artists in 1998. The primary objects being to encourage and promote young artists to pursue and excel in their talents as professional artists and is known for their mission, “Nurturing a creative society”. VAST is a Non-profit Organization working towards creating social awareness through different art exhibitions and art competitions.
VAST Art Galleries in Thimphu: (Buy arts and be a part of a greater cause)

VAST has two art galleries in Thimphu. Alaya gallery and Bhutan art Gallery were set up in 2010 and 2017 respectively. The Alaya gallery is located at the Tarayana center, approximately at 10 minutes walk from the Centenary Farmers Market. Bhutan art gallery is located in the heart of Thimphu town at the ground floor of Le Meridian, Thimphu. Both the galleries serve as a platform for the young artists to display their artworks. Tourists can visit their galleries and treat their eyes and souls with an assortment of traditional and contemporary artworks. Every artwork sold from these Galleries goes to charity.

Asha Kama: (The Man Behind VAST)
Artist Karma Wangdi, popularly known as Asha Kama (uncle kama) founded VAST along with other few artists. He is a passionate artist who believes that art can be a powerful tool to tackle many social problems. His unique artworks are a fusion of traditional and contemporary approach. His artworks can be found at almost all of the hotels in and around Thimphu.
